Online Safety

Online safety is important at Porter Croft and throughout the year we teach and promote safe use of web technologies.

Whilst much appreciating the amazing scope that ICT brings to our learning, we place a high priority on educating our children about the e-safety & focus on this regularly & particularly as part of our Online Safety Day in February each year. We also have an annual workshop led by our Online Safety Subject Leader, Mr Rowe.

The purpose of Porter Croft C of E Primary Academy online safety policy is to:

  • Safeguard and protect all members of the Porter Croft C of E Primary Academy community online.
  • Identify approaches to educate and raise awareness of online safety throughout the community.
  • Enable all staff to work safely and responsibly, to role model positive behaviour online and to manage professional standards and practice when using technology.
  • Identify clear procedures to use when responding to online safety concerns.

Porter Croft C of E Primary Academy identifies that the issues classified within online safety are considerable, but can be broadly categorised into three areas of risk:

  • Content: being exposed to illegal, inappropriate or harmful material
  • Contact: being subjected to harmful online interaction with other users
  • Conduct: personal online behaviour that increases the likelihood of, or causes, harm.

WHISPER – Porter Croft has started using the online reporting tool Whispeas a new line of anonymous communication within the school community.

Whisper allows students and parents alike to report any issues or concerns they may be having, anonymously, through SMS messaging or via email. The school will be able to actively respond to any reports and offer the correct guidance and support where needed. We hope this will allow students and parents to feel confident in coming forward with any problems they may be experiencing.

If you need to report anything, please follow the link https://swgfl.org.uk/whisper/PCC1

Alternatively, you can send a message to 07860 021 323 starting your message with PCC1 to report via SMS
