End of Term Letter

Thursday 15th July 2021

Dear Parents and carers,

As you will have heard the government is proceeding with Step 4 of the roadmap on Monday 19th July. The latest DfE guidance ‘ Evidence Summary’ Coronavirus (COVID-19) – children, young people and education settings, published July 2021 states;

‘The balance of risks has shifted and as measures are eased into the rest of the economy and society, it is appropriate to step down measures in early years, schools and colleges so that children, young people, staff and settings can return to normal as far as possible. In doing so, the aim is to minimise the burden of implementing COVID-19 measures on staff and parents, as well as the impact these measures have on children and young people’s educational education.’

 We are therefore planning to return to a normal school day in September, below is a list of changes that will come into place on Thursday 2nd September, the first day of term.

  • School will start at 8.45am and the register will close at 8.55am
  • Children will be asked to line up on the yard at the start of the day and will be taken into class by a member of staff
  • KS1 children will line up outside their classrooms in a morning waiting to be let in by a member of staff
  • Parents will not be admitted into classrooms at the start and the end of the day, but are welcome to wait on the yard
  • Pupils will be expected to wear school uniform every day and bring their PE kits to change into on their PE days
  • Y5 & Y6 pupils only, will be allowed to come to school wearing PE kits on their PE days (you will be informed in September which days PE will take place on)
  • School will finish at 3.15pm every day and there will be after school club and breakfast club available every day
  • FS2 children will start school from Monday 6th September, parents have been informed about which day their child will start during this week
  • There will be a phased return for all children eating their lunch in the hall, starting with KS1 pupils
  • Y4 will start swimming lessons at King Edwards’ swimming baths on Thursday 9th September

Finally, have a lovely summer and a good rest. Thank you for all your support through this difficult school year and we look forward to seeing you all in September.

Kind regards
