Friday 5th February 2021

Dear parents and carers,

Thank you for supporting your children with their home learning. Teachers have noted that almost all their classes are now joining in on the daily Zoom sessions, which is an amazing achievement. Every child in school is engaging with their work either by uploading it onto the Purple Mash platforms, or returning the paper packs to school every Friday. I just want to say well done, we really appreciate all the hard work and effort put into this by everyone to make this happen!

We are adding more live Zoom lessons starting on Monday 8th February for our Y3 pupils. These are the new times for Y3, Y5, Y6.

Live lessons daily-20 minutes

Y6    11am           Y5   11.20am          Y3  11.40am

Y4 will also have an extra live lesson starting after the half term holiday at 12pm daily.

This week has been Children’s Mental Health Week, so I do hope you have had a look at the assembly we posted on Monday 1st February about it and the activity pack on our Whole School Blog via the Purple Mash platform. There are also two videos for children to watch about relaxation and meditation exercises on this blog too.

Next week, on Tuesday 9th February, it is Internet Safety Day. There will be an assembly uploaded on Monday 8th February to launch it and a lesson from Mr Rowe for your child to do, on the Whole School blog.

It is also the Chinese New Year on Friday 12th February, so my assembly will be celebrating that next Friday, please do look out for it on the Whole School blog.

We break up for half term on Friday 12th February. There will be no packs to pick up next Friday, but you are more than welcome to drop off any work your child has done to be marked.

Packs will be ready to pick up on Monday 22nd February for the first week back after half term.

As you may be aware, the government has mentioned the 8th March as a possible date for pupils to return to school. Schools do not receive advanced warnings of government announcements, I generally hear important information regarding schools at the same time as you, on the news. At this moment in time, I have no further information about whether schools will be open for all pupils on the 8th March. I will keep you informed about any changes as soon as I know myself.

Do take care, please do not mix with other households or travel to see family. We need to continue to stay at home as much as possible to stop the transmission of this awful virus, so that we can return to a normal way of life as soon as possible.

Kind regards

Cath Thomas

Zoom rules

  • Your child must use their full name as their Zoom name
  • Your child must be on mute, unless they are answering a question
  • Cameras must be on
  • Children are not to draw on the screen, unless asked to do so
  • These sessions are lessons, we expect children to sit and listen whilst their teacher is speaking
  • Your child must not send inappropriate messages to other children on the chat
  • Your child must be dressed appropriately

If your child cannot follow these rules, teachers may evict them from the session, so that other children are not disrupted by their behaviour.
